While in Brussels, and in the throes of a passion for all things Francophone, I bought a book (look, a book shop's a book shop, even if most of the stock is in either French or Flemish - incidentally, in Rome I spotted a bookshop open at 2:00AM - granted, I can't read Italian, but even so... any city that has those kind of facilities gets my vote!)
Anyway, this book pressed all my buttons (apart from the Francophile one) because it was called: 'Restez Zen: la Methode du Chat' and also had the word yoga on the cover - yoga, zen, cats, relaxation, sounds like my kind of thing.
I haven't actually opened it since I got home, but I'm sure the translation will be part of the meditation experience (and if I get stuck I can pass it on to CDA and let her worry about it - 10 years in Geneva must have been good for something!)

That what I like about Borders bookshop. It stays open till 11pm on Friday's and Saturday's. Not that I could ever stay there that late, but knowing that I could if I wanted to...

CDA says thank you, but check it's not available in English as well, most of this cat crap originates over here in the new world.
BTW, telling me to "upload" my blog picture is about like your reaction to reading a book in French...

i take that as a challenge...
It was written (not translated) by Henri Brunel, and published in 1998 by Editions du Seuil, Paris.
I did check I could understand it pretty well before buying it - but I thought it would sound funny if I pretended I didn't.
I have every intention of reading it - a ce moment I wish I had time to read a book in English, never mind French!!

I have seen that book, it's cute! But don't talk to me about Belgium, I have had a pig of a day trying to put addresses over there into my computer software to to order computer spares, then explain to the Belgian branch that we couldn't process their orders. Weirdly, though, I am enjoying my new job!

My feelings about Brussels are coloured by my feelings about the people I was with when I was there. I found the whole place magical and surreal - getting there by train, the Christmas display in the Grand Place (makes anything look over here look seriously tacky); the cobbled streets; the little shops; the waffle stands; the weird monumental statuary in the parks; even the Kafkaesque European Parliament building. Best of all was the 'Salon de Gustation' of 'Planete Chocolat' in Rue Lombard (opposite our hotel). The fact that I never had a clue where I was and just wandered around in a happy daze for three days may have helped! I'm sure it's not like that in real life, but it always will be in my memory.
