Back to my routine this morning. The last two mornings I’ve unset the alarm to try and get some extra sleep. Today I woke at 4:30, but so be it, when I wasn’t back to sleep by 5:30 I knew I had to get up anyway. Yesterday I was awake from 2:30 and was still awake at 5:30, when I finally dozed off I didn’t wake till 8, so I didn’t have time for either meditation or blogging.
I hate the fact that I keep going on about my sleeping again. I hope I’m not getting obsessive. I just wanted to mention it today because it explains why I didn’t blog yesterday.
I had one day off at the weekend, my day in Cambridge on Saturday, which was OK, though not that wonderful. I did do some shopping, bought a few tops in some nice bright colours, and some black shoes. I don’t really have any smart, comfortable shoes, I’m still wearing my boots, but I don’t feel I can take those to Paris. But anyway, these new shoes are lovely. The friend I was with suggested wearing them round the house to break them in, so that I could still take them back if I wanted to, so I’ve been wearing them the last couple of days. Did think that cooking the dinner in heels on Sunday was rather decadent – usually it’s slippers or bare feet! I’ll wear them today for going to London, after that they should be fine for Paris.
I had to work yesterday and Sunday, and I missed going out in the garden, because the weather was so beautiful, and the garden is getting into such a state. Sunday was stressful because I had my work planned out, then my son asked me to proof read his project report, and I ended up spending the whole morning on it, then we went to the garden centre, so by mid afternoon I hadn’t got any of my work done but I didn’t feel I’d had a particularly relaxing or enjoyable time either. I hate days like that. Luckily I made up for it somewhat yesterday.
I have a lot to squeeze into tomorrow – including packing. My daughter will be here to take me to the station at 8 on Thursday morning so I can’t leave it till then, and I have an evening meeting tomorrow, so I can’t do it then either! But I do seem to be getting better at getting stuff done and not panicking so much. Oh, and I haven’t done any housework for the last two weeks and won’t get any done next weekend either (obviously), so the house will be knee deep in dust soon.
I have a list of jobs that need to be done tomorrow, I hope I can get through them all and get away on Thursday. When I come back, I will have to devote myself to the magazine for a couple of weeks. We’ve got an editorial board meeting today, which is why I’m going to London. I hope the editor hasn’t forgotten that I’m going to be away next weekend, though I bet she has. It is going to make life difficult, but it can’t be helped. This is why I’ve been trying to get as much as I can of my other stuff out of the way before I go. It’s a bad time of year in every respect, because I have had to do the end of year accounts for both Parish Councils to get them audited. I don’t mind doing the accounts, I quite enjoy it, but it does take me a long time.
